Brown Steve McLain plays a traveling man, blithe, carefree, harmonica playing, fast drawing, two-fisted handsome, smiling traveling man. While traveling by stagecoach, he "meets cute" lovely Suzanne Kaaren Linda Forbes by playing harmonica and then saving the stagecoach from being robbed and Kaaren from being killed by a stray bullet - you can't get much cuter than that.

They like each other right away and so he decides to stay in her home town, where westerns' regular Lloyd Ingraham Judge Forbes is her father. Then he meets archetypal westerns' villains Ted Adams Ace Pringle , henchman Ed Cassidy Slim and wheezy, incompetent, cowardly Horace Murphy Sheriff and Dick Morehead Deputy , both working for Adams, And, so it goes - Adams tries to get Brown killed - sometimes the attempts are comic, sometimes serious, none effective.

Along the way Brown picks up a sidekick, Frank Darien Dizzy Slocum a squeezebox playing, down-on-his-luck, grizzled prospector. Between Brown and Darien, they are good for a few instrumentals. Kaaren sure looks good in her western garb and horseback riding. Edgar Buchanan, Karen Morley co-star. T-man Ford finds the lives of his family threatened when the gang boss he's trying to finger for tax evasion starts pushing back in the gritty procedural "The Undercover Man" Nina Foch, James Whitmore co-star.
