Amazon kindle app download queued

After converting, the app gets stuck at Queued or Waiting to Download. I have tried removing and reinstalling the app multiple times including removing the device from the device list and starting over with no luck. If I move the app back to internal storage and switch the sync to internal storage it appears to work. I am wondering if this is an issue with permissions on the external card?

Any idea how to fix this? After rebooting the tablet it changed the sync destination to internal storage then downloaded saw another thread that had the same issue with music.

Is this a general android issue or specific to the fire? Any word on when this bug will be fixed as it makes the sync feature close to useless very limited internal storage.
